Bufo Atukorale also known as the Yala Toad or Atukorale’s Dwarf toad is a species of toad endemic to Sri Lanka. It can be recognized by its stout body grayish brown, thick, dry, pebbly skin and short legs that make it difficult for leaping, thus preferring to walk and hop along unlike the frog. The male is smaller in size than the female and is known to inflate its body when threatened. Its natural habitat is mostly tropical and subtropical moist lowland forests, tropical scrublands, swamps, and freshwater marshes in addition to rural and urban home gardens. It stays hidden during the day and is very active during the night when it hunts for prey, most often invertebrates.
